Labour
Office
Work permits are granted to expatriates when the position
can not be filled by BVIanders or Belongers. Everyone
who is not a BVIlander or Belonger to engage in any kind
of work in the BVI, needs a work permit. Permits are granted
by the BVI Government’s Labour Office. For those
who will be self employed, a Trade License is required
prior to applying for a work permit.
All positions for which work permits are being sought
except for self-employed person must be advertised in
the local newspaper for 3 weeks in succession. A copy
of the ads must accompany the application.
For those seeking work permits for managerial positions
a resume and copies of diplomas are required to accompany
the application.
The associated fee is based on the salary. Usually, permits
range between $15 and $1,000 per year and are renewable
annually. |
