Entry
Requirements
All visitors are welcomed in the British Virgin Islands.
Persons coming to the BVI for the purpose of visiting
are required to satisfy the Immigration Officer at the
port of entry on the following: 1.
Has valid travel documents.
2. Does not intend to remain permanently
in the territory.
3. Will not engage in work or seek
any employment.
4. Has enough funds to support himself
and any dependents without working for the duration
of his stay.
5. Has onward or return tickets.
Persons admitted as visitors will not be allowed to change
their status to work or reside, etc., unless they leave
the Territory and return with the necessary documents.
A person admitted as a spouse or other dependent in regards
to a person who is coming to work or start a business
may not seek employment without first applying to the
Chief Immigration for a change of status.
Passports
Citizens of the British Commonwealth do not need visas
to visit the British Virgin Islands.
Valid passports are best, but US and Canadian Citizens
are allowed to visit the British Virgin Islands providing
they carry other proof of their citizenship, such as a
original or certified copy of their Birth Certificate
with a photo ID such as a Driver’s License. |

Persons
Coming for Employment
A person coming to the British Virgin Islands for this
purpose is required to produce at the port of entry:
a) A letter issued to the
prospective employer by the Labour Department approving
his employment in the British Virgin Islands. This letter
is presented by the prospective employer who has to
be at the port of entry when the prospective employee
arrives.
b) Two copies of a Police Certificate
of charter from his country of birth in addition to
country of residence prior to arrival.
c) A certificate of good health from
the country of embarkation (applications are supplied
at the Immigration Office).
Such a person would be admitted for one month and advised
to make further application to the Chief Immigration Officer
and the Labour Commissioner.
Work Permits are issued by the Labour Department to non-British
Virgin islanders in respect of a specific post with a
specific employer in cases where positions can not be
filled locally, Before an Entry Permit is issued, the
holder of a letter or approval as in (a) above must obtain
a Work Permit from the Labour Officer.
Persons Coming To Establish A Business
or As Person on Independence
A person in this category is required at the port of entry
to satisfy the requirements for a visitor. The visitor
would then be admitted for a month.
The applicant would be required to furnish the following:
1. A certificate of good
health from the country of embarkation. Application
are available at the Immigration Office.
2. Two copies of a Police Certificate
of Character from the country of birth in addition to
country of residence on to arrival.
Additionally, applicants in this category may make further
application for Permanent Residency having established
themselves successfully in the territory. |

Residence
Requirements
The following requirements are needed along with your
completed application: a) Two
(2) passport size photographs of yourself and all dependents
listed on your application.
b) Medical Certificate of each of the
above; the certificate should not be more than 30 days
old.
c) Evidence of support for yourself
and dependents.
d) Evidence of date of first arrival
in the BVI.
e) Marriage Certificate.
f) The names, age, sex, citizenship
and country of birth of each child listed on your application.
g) Two (2) police certificates of character
for yourself and each dependent over the age of 16 years
from each country where residence was taken up for a
period of six months or longer.
h) Two (2) copies of Birth Certificates
of each person listed on your application.
i) Letter of reference from at least
two persons who know you.
j) Bank statement.
Visa Regulations
Visas are not required by National of the following countries:
A. Belgium, Italy, Spain,
Germany, Denmark, Liechtenstein, Sweden, Finland, Luxembourg,
Switzerland, France, Netherlands, Tunisia, Greece, Norway
& Colonies, Turkey, Iceland, San Marino, Uruguay.
B. Citizens of the United States who
are visiting for a period not exceeding 6 months.
C. Nationals of Venezuela who are visiting
for a period not exceeding 1 month.
D. Nationals of Commonwealth countries.
